I've been wanting to try baking Lebkuchen ever since I read The Baker's Daughter by Sarah McCoy. My office is having a charity bake sale on Monday, which finally gave me the excuse I needed to get flour everywhere..
My cookie cutters aren't as big as what Ms. McCoy described, so even though I cut down the baking time, my cookies came out crunchy not chewy. But they are tasty.
The book is also reasonably tasty, even though I don't intend to post a detailed review.
