While my first love was SF, I read widely in YA, urban fantasy, police procedurals,  middle-grade, and non-fiction.

The Vor Game - Lois McMaster Bujold I very much liked Bujold's Sharing Knife series, so I thought I would go back and read some of her older work. This is the earliest book about Miles Vorkosigan available in my library. While The Vor game has some enjoyable vignettes, as a whole the book doesn't quite hang together, and shows Bujold's status as a journeyman writer. One major flaw is the constant references to events in the previous books, to the point that this story almost doesn't stand alone. I definitely recommend starting at the beginning of the series and reading in the order that they were written.

If I can get a copy of the earlier books, I may give these another go, but for now there is too much else on my TBR shelves to make reading more about Miles' shenanigans a priority.
