The Broken Kingdoms - N.K. Jemisin I agree with the multiple comments that N.K. Jemisin became a more seasoned writer between The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and it's sequel. But yet, the characters in The Broken Kingdoms just didn't grab me quite as much as the first book. Some of it could be that I'm a sucker for good oming-of-age/fulfill-the-prophecy story, and there was less of that trope in the story of Oree Shoth than in that of Yeine. Regardless, I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to getting the 3rd volume out of the library.
