Review: Urban Shaman

Urban Shaman - C. E. Murphy

Urban Fantasy featuring mythic and folkloric deities and shamanic magic (but no vampires, werewolves or pretty elves).  Sticks pretty closely to the police procedural formula.  While written slightly earlier, the tone and some of the content remind me strongly of Patricia Brigg's work -  tough female protagonist who fixes cars, connection to Coyote the trickster.  In general - if only because I discovered them sooner, I prefer Ms. Briggs.  But I enjoyed Urban Shaman enough, that I will probably give the rest of the series a try (especially as I have them in ebook format for free).
